Privacy policy

MyAIBackup is a Mac app that keeps a copy of your AI conversations (Claude chats, Claude Code sessions and Claude Design files) and helps you move them to a new account. This page explains what we collect and what we don't.

The short version

• Your backup lives on your Mac. We never see it.
• If you turn on cloud backup, your Mac encrypts everything before it leaves. We store the encrypted copy, but we can't read it. Only your recovery key can unlock it, and we never have that key.
• We don't sell your data, show ads or use your data to train AI.

What we collect

• Your email address, when you sign in with Google or join the beta list. We use it to identify your account and, for the beta list, to tell you when the beta opens. From Google we only receive your email address and whether it is verified.
• The names of the Macs you connect (for example "Alex's MacBook"), so you can see and disconnect them on your account page.
• Backup status from each connected Mac: how many files are backed up and their total size, when the last backup and upload happened, whether claude.ai is connected, and the app version. Never file names or what's in your conversations. This is what lets your account page show whether your backup is working.
• Encrypted backup pieces, only if you use cloud backup. We know how big they are, so we can show how much of your plan you're using, but not what's inside them.
• Payment details, only if you buy a plan. Payments are handled by Stripe. We don't see or store your card number.
• Basic server logs (such as IP addresses and times of requests) for security and to keep the service working. We keep them for a short time.

What we don't collect

• The content of your conversations, projects or files. The app reads them on your Mac and saves them on your Mac. Anything sent to our cloud is encrypted first.
• Your Claude, Google or other passwords.

When you move to a new Claude account

When you ask the app to move your history, it copies it directly from your Mac to your new Claude account. It doesn't pass through our servers.

Sharing

We share data only with the services we need to run MyAIBackup: our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services), Google (for sign-in) and Stripe (for payments). We will disclose information if the law requires it.

Deleting your data

You can delete the backup on your Mac at any time. To delete your account and everything we store for it, including encrypted cloud copies, email us at the address below and we'll do it within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email.
